Uttar Pradesh residents get two layers of subsidy that stack together. The central government, under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, gives ₹30,000 per kW up to 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW, capped at ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above. On top of this, UPNEDA (the UP state renewable energy agency) adds a state subsidy of ₹15,000 per kW, capped at ₹30,000 per consumer. Combined, a 3 kW+ residential system in Lucknow can qualify for up to ₹1,08,000 in total subsidy (as of August 2026 — confirm current rates on pmsuryaghar.gov.in and upneda.org.in, as rates and eligibility can change).
